The Happy Photographer

I remember a quote I saw a long time ago, “You are the happy man.” What was the source of this wisdom you might ask? A great scholar or prophet…nope a fortune cookie! It might seem silly, but it stuck with me, so I pinned it to my bulletin board in my office. I still get a chuckle out of the phrasing of this enlightening piece of knowledge, the use of “the” rather than “a”. I know that I am not “the” happy man, but most definitely “a” happy man. Happy that I had a great childhood. Happy that I fell in love with a beautiful girl at 19. Happy that I made her my wife at 22. Happy that I beat cancer the same year. Happy that we have made a wonderful home together, and even more happy still, when we welcomed our daughter to the world in 2014. Now in 2024 I am working out of my amazing old industrial studio in the small village of Wappingers Falls, NY.

Looking back at all that it kind of makes sense to me that I had a passion for photography throughout. It allowed me to capture little pieces of all that happiness, not just for myself, but for lots of others. Wether its a moment at a wedding, or a child’s smile, or a dancer’s grace…it’s happiness captured. And I love it!

My past work as a photographer has taken me on kinds of adventures. Experiencing those adventures and all the connections made along they way, are huge part of what make me “a happy man.” I cherish the opportunity to share so of “the” happiness with you.
